Compositeur italien d'origine flamande, il semble être connu ou identifié également sous le nom de Maître Jean, est nommé en 1547 directeur musical de l'Accademia Filarmonica de Vérone après avoir été au service d'un noble, Paolo Naldi, près de Vicence, puis, 4 ans plus tard, accepte le poste de maestro di cappella de la cathédrale de Trévise, poste qu'il conserve jusqu'à sa mort.

Sa musique, d'une écriture très homophonique, subit l'influence très marquée d'Adrian Willaert. Sa veuve fait publier à Venise en 1561 ses Lamentationi a Voce Pari di Giovan Nasco a quatro voci con doi Passii il Benedictus et le sue Antiphone Nouamente Con ogni diligentia Stampate & date in Luce. - Con Gratia et Privileggio. In Venetia Appresso di Antonio Gardano. 1561. Cantus, Tenor, Altus, Bassus. Deux autres éditions en 1564 (CTAB) et 74 (TB). (RISM N 74 & NN 74, 1561 : I-Bc, SATB ; I-Vc, I-BRE ; RISM N 75, 1564 : I-Bc ; RISM N 76, 1574 : I-Bc ; I-Ls).
