Compositeur néerlandais, de son véritable nom Christian Jans, il succède en 1549 à Antoine Lierts dans la place de maître de chapelle de Sainte-Walburge d'Audenarde (Flandre orientale), est congédié en 1557, puis devient chantre de la chapelle successivement de l'empereur Ferdinand 1<sup>er</sup> jusqu'en 1564 et de l'archiduc Ferdinand II, frère de Maximilien II, jusqu'à sa mort. <br />
